Political Class Without Any Ideology Of Their Own

Two things have happened recently which have reminded me of my thoughts on our elected political masters. Yet another child has lost its life to a killer dog and as usual I expect the owner to be an idiot, and the floods in Somerset and the Thames Valley have become the daily news topic, as always where the weather is concerned. I ask myself how many more young children must die at the hands or teeth of fighting dogs before our cowards in control actually enact some real policies to prevent it happening again. Pondering as I do over elections won and lost, I have noticed that the mainstreamers never actually stand for anything, but more importantly, never against anything either. They promise to work hard and serve their communities, to support local businesses and protect Greenbelts when there are none to protect but nothing much else. In fact they only want the self importance and prestige that they delude themselves with. On the subject of the floods, the Environment Agency is the target of much anger and rightly so but the policies of not dredging come straight from the EU book of SSI diversity directives, whereby rivers and drainage ditches are left to their own natural processes for the benefit of sticklebacks, loaches and lesser spotted green bog hoppers, forsaking all human life in the process. The environment needs all the help these days with the incessant demand for houses and infrastructure but, historical towns and villages must be protected at the expense of continued demand for house-builder's profits and donations to political parties. Flood plains are still being built on and the so called one in a hundred years storms have now occurred three times in the last ten years. We don't need two million more homes for the people who currently inhabit our island so shut the door and save what we already have.
